Product Description

The Chiarugi plane reed knife has blade that is 4mm thick and 8cm long. The blade is made from ground and tempered steel which is then hand sharpened and mounted on a polished African ebony handle. Available for left or right handed people.

The blade has two flat sides making it our easiest knife to sharpen although this is at the slight compromise of how sharp the blade can be (see our Concave Reed Knife for the ideal sharpness/ease of sharpening compromise).

This knife can be honed/sharpened with a traditional Sharpening Stone or Diamond Sharpening Stone.

A protective sheath for the blade is provided.

Excellent reed knife!

It is a solid knife made by Chiarugi in Italy, with a nicely shaped black hardwood handle. The edge of the knife is bevelled and quite sharp, and comes protected by a black plastic sheath, pushed over the blade. I prefer to wrap the blade in something soft because I think the hard plastic can blunt the edge in long-term. Overall an excellent purchase and good value for money.
