Our Intermediate Oboe Reed is the step up from our Student reed, designed for early intermediate players progressing through Grades 2 to 4. Available in two strengths so you can pick the right amount of resistance for where your playing is right now: Medium-Soft for the player still building stamina, and Medium for the more developed embouchure.

The right resistance for where you are

The Medium-Soft variant carries on from our Student reed, giving you a free-blowing response while you focus on tone and articulation. The Medium variant adds a touch more resistance, which is what you want once your embouchure has the strength to support it. Both let you keep practising for longer without tiring out.

Brass wire, red thread, hand-finished

Each reed is held together with a brass wire and red thread binding, giving it a recognisable look on the music stand and reliable structural integrity through normal use. The finished reed is 72mm long on a 47mm staple, the standard British format.
